This site is a tribute to Girish Patel from West Bromwich, originally born in Kabwe, Zambia on June 19, 1957. A beautiful soul with an infectious smile, he is one in a million kind hearted, loving and helpful towards everyone he knew. He is much loved and will continue to shine brightly in our hearts.
Family First; Passionate supporter of community activities including the Local Shri Krishna Mandir, Service to all.
Loving husband of Mina Patel and father to their one and only precious Meera. Girish was a dedicated caring family man who was always so proud of his wife and daughter. He was immediately smitten by Mina on introduction – they married in spring 1984 and they both dedicated their love and time towards nurturing a mutually interdependent relationship. Girish’s love and respect for Mina was demonstrated in every small aspect and both honored and enjoyed a fulfilled happy marriage unreservedly. Meera, their precious miracle had the most wonderful father-daughter relationship where he constantly championed her greatness and was always so proud to say he was Meera’s Dad.
Girish is survived by his loving parents, Chhaganbhai Vallabhai Patel and Shantiben Chhaganbhai Patel (West Bromwich, UK/Dandi, India). There was never a day when he did not pop in to see them and taking full responsibility of their upkeep. He was blessed with 4 younger sisters, Usha Patel (USA), Daksha Edwards, Asha Patel and Nita (Pitu) Mistry. His sisters doted on him and spoiled him rotten and continue to be proud of their precious brother. He loved his nephews dearly - James Edwards, Ishan and Keyan Mistry - their uncle was their hero.
He had many other nephews and nieces that loved him dearly – he was well known as the “Chocolate man” as Girish always provided them with an abundance of chocolates which they all loved and appreciated. Girish had the patience of a saint, especially when it came to helping young children. He helped with their schoolwork and was simply someone to turn to with a kind ear – someone who had time and patience for them. He truly championed their successes and gave them the confidence to keep learning and celebrating their achievements.
Girish developed many friendships throughout his college years, and some of his friends have stayed connected with him throughout his life. To mention one in particular; his best friend, Bipin who he knew for over 45 years. He was like a brother to him and is an integral part of Girish’s family network. Oh the stories that they could share!
After graduating from university, Girish had many opportunities to forge a career in his given speciality of Biochemistry. However he chose to stay close to home and support the family business. His work ethic was commendable, he successfully ran the family business for over 20 years. After selling the business, Girish secured a position with Cadburys now Mondelez where he worked for the past 20 years. Girish was never afraid to learn, grow and collaborate with team members. He built many relationships with his clients in his territory and took pride in working at Mondelez including supporting all the company’s community and charity activities. He truly loved working for Mondelez.
Girish enjoyed staying active and loved following cricket. He was also an avid Liverpool fan since he arrived in the UK. He regularly played badminton but had to retire due to dodgy knees, he moved his attention elsewhere and the great outdoors beckoned where he built up a great walking network of family and friends.
Over the years, almost every day there were always reasons to celebrate the various get togethers. Girish was blessed with a family who enjoyed coming together regularly for many birthday celebrations, holidays adventures, including the regular Friday night boys (and family) nights out. Girish got to travel to many countries including India, America, Canada, and many wonderful places in the UK. He experienced many adventures including boat trips, kayaking, plane rides and so much more. To top all of this his favorite pass-time was walking with his family and friends, each Sunday at the local Sandwell Valley Nature Park.
Lover of Food: Girish’s favorite food was Pizza of course! But tea-time was special in the Guji household. At any given day, if you stop by around 5pm, Girish can be found sitting at the family dining table with his favorite cuppa chai. He would be surrounded by his family, friends and children who would often visit.
His service to loved ones and community: Girish’s unconditional love for everyone who he met was evident as he treated everyone with the highest regard, respect, and service. There was never anything that was too much for him to do when it came to helping others. He was always happy to give up his time on various community projects through work, family and community activities.
We celebrate Girish’s life of Service to Others and his unconditional love.
May his soul be at peace - he will forever be in our hearts.
